Last night, on 10 June 2024, the iconic Atterbury Theatre hosted a spectacular evening to celebrate its 13th anniversary and announce an exciting new sponsorship. This gala, attended by luminaries of South Africa’s theatre community, was a night to remember, featuring top-tier performances and marking a new chapter in the theatre’s storied history.

The event spotlighted some of South Africa’s most celebrated artists, Corlea Botha, Ruhan du Toit and a special guest appearance by Charl du Plessis. Adding to the evening’s allure, the Akustika Chamber Singers, fresh off their win at the Concorso Corale Internazionale Vox Lucensis in Lucca, Italy, delivered a breathtaking performance.

With the recent sponsorship by Fairtree, a leading global investment manager, the theatre is now known as the Fairtree Atterbury Theatre. This partnership marks a significant milestone for the theatre and Fairtree, emphasising a shared commitment to the arts.

We are very enthusiastic about the new partnership as it greatly benefits the theatre and South Africa’s performing arts industry. Fairtree’s commitment to investing in our cultural assets will contribute to a thriving local theatre culture.

Fairtree Group CEO, Kobus Nel, shared his vision: “We truly understand the world of assets, and how an investment needs to be nurtured and managed.  This is exactly how we view and approach our country’s cultural assets – the pool of talented artists who are committed to following their calling, and who rely on the support of this theatre and others like it to keep their dream alive.”

“One of Fairtree’s key missions is to empower individuals to live their individual and collective callings. Through our collaboration with the Atterbury Theatre, we aim to create avenues for individuals to flourish in the performing arts arena.” Nel adds.
