Terugploeg (“giving back”) is a food distribution and community upliftment initiative run by Atterbury Trust in collaboration with a network of benefactors and volunteers in the agricultural sector. Terugploeg has been responsibly uplifting vulnerable communities since 2020 through food distribution, in-service training and job creation. With the input and donations of generous farmers, tonnes of fresh fruit, vegetables and game meat were initially donated and then responsibly distributed to vulnerable communities. With the establishment of a facility outside Pretoria, the first step has been taken to develop a sustainable process over the long term, whereby food can be distributed effectively and communities can be uplifted.
