Atterbury National Piano Competition

A platform for young South African pianists

The Atterbury National Piano Competition, which was launched in 2011, provides a prestigious platform for talented young pianists aged 19 years and under. Held annually at the Fairtree Atterbury Theatre in Pretoria, the competition attracts participants from across South Africa who are divided into three age categories to ensure fairness.

Participants are judged by a panel of seasoned judges based on technique, musicality and stage presentation. The competition concludes with a final round where big prizes and concert opportunities are at stake.

The competition promotes classical music, inspires young musicians, and serves as a launching pad for future artists with numerous previous winners who have already achieved national and international success.
